Concern for the Poor and Social Justice
We are in solidarity with the poor and advocate for those suffering from injustices.
Solidarity is one of the key principles of Catholic social teaching and “in its fullest sense is both a social principle and a moral virtue” (Compendium of the Social Doctrine of the Church).
At the core of the virtue of solidarity is the pursuit of justice and peace through unity. It starts with the belief that we are all created in God’s image. At , our solidarity focus aims to integrate life, faith and culture so that our students better appreciate the interconnectedness of humanity. Our learning framework exposes students to the empowerment, fulfilment, hope, peace and joy that are achieved through a solidarity mindset.
During our annual Mission Action Week the College community engages in activities that promote inclusion and respect for all persons. Throughout the year our students have various opportunities to serve at local, national and global levels. The College provides support for St Vincent de Paul, Caritas Australia and the Lasallian Foundation to meet this commitment to solidarity.
